Welcome to another Weird Weekend in Lawrence
Come out for the Twelfth annual Lawrence Busker Festival happening May 24-26! It’s our once-a-year-get-weird-weekend where you will find unusual entertainment all over downtown Lawrence. This year will be the World’s First All-Female Busker Festival and it’s going to full of awesome acts from around the world.
Why an all-female Busker Festival? We need more extraordinary examples of empowered females so we will be bringing in ladies from around the world with amazing skills that will blow your minds.
We were able to catch up with one of the favorite street performers from the Lawrence Busker Festival favorites, Linsey Lindberg – better known around here as Mama Lou American Strong Woman.
But there’s something new this year… something not only Lawrence has never seen, but that the world has never seen. This year’s Lawrence Busker Festival is the very first festival of its kind (IN THE WORLD) that will feature all female performers!
Lawrence’s Hometown Wheeled-Art Parade
In celebration of America’s fascination with all things wheeled, Lawrence holds the Art Tougeau Parade to honor mankind’s large creative cerebral cortex, bipedal locomotion, and opposable thumbs. The result is an all-inclusive event symbolic of humanity’s need for self-expression in the medium of all things wheeled. Art Tougeau joins forces with the Lawrence Busker Festival to make an incredible event for the community. The parade starts and ends at the Lawrence Arts Center (940 New Hampshire) at noon on Saturday, May 25. The route will be: Lawrence Arts Center – 11th Street – Massachusetts Street – 7th Street – New Hampshire St – Lawrence Arts Center.
Don’t miss the pre-parade street party, Friday, May 24 starting at 5:00 PM. Nothin’ like some great music and goofy fun to get you revved up for the parade!
