Suggested Songs: “Death Grip,” “Dead Memories”
Remember the concert in Paris in 2015 where 128 lives were taken by a gunman? Horrific. Excruciating. Infuriating. -At least that’s how Fit For A King felt, and why they decided to write an entire album worth of songs exploring, healing and out-writing the fear they were stricken with from that attack. “Deathgrip” is a creative project that speaks to the way we interpret and understand death and how we can respond creatively, collectively.
Replay Lounge, December 15
Suggested Songs: “Don’t Go Under,” “Somehow”
Jonathan Fleig gives himself 5 personas: The Doer, The Muse, The Mourner, The Witness, The Dreamer. And through each of these, he has written award-nominated music. His true commitment to the process of songwriting is one that is whole-hearted. For example, once he spent 56 days alone in a tent as a journey of finding his words, his songs. Another time he drove from Kansas to California, formed a band, and got nominated for “Best Americana Artist” and “Americana Song of The Year,” by L.A. Music Awards. If you’re searching for words this time of year, something to speak to you, my guess is that Jonathan will have just what you need.
Replay Lounge, December 22
